Support Persons Project — Bihar, Gujarat & Haryana

The Support Persons Project, implemented under the Just Rights for Children Alliance with Prayas JAC Society as one of the key partners, focuses on ensuring justice, protection, and holistic support for child survivors of sexual abuse. The initiative works towards safeguarding the rights and well-being of children through legal guidance, psychosocial support, rehabilitation services, and continuous follow-up support for survivors and their families.


Areas of Operation

The project operates across multiple districts in Bihar, Gujarat, and Haryana, including Gaya, Purnea, East Champaran, West Champaran, Darbhanga, Nalanda, Ahmedabad, and Jhajjar.

  • Appointment of Support Persons through Child Welfare Committees (CWCs)
  • Legal guidance and case follow-up support
  • Psychosocial counselling and emotional care
  • Rehabilitation and reintegration support
  • Educational and vocational linkages for survivors
  • Assistance in accessing compensation and welfare schemes
  • Protection support through coordination with authorities

Stakeholder Coordination

The project works closely with CWCs, police authorities, district administrations, and legal institutions to ensure child-friendly legal processes and timely intervention.

Along with legal aid, the initiative emphasizes rehabilitation, education, vocational opportunities, and long-term socio-economic support for survivors and their families. Through coordinated interventions and continuous counselling support, the project continues to promote child protection, justice, dignity, and recovery for vulnerable children.
