ABOUT PRAYAS

Prayas Juvenile Aid Centre Society is a national level, child, youth and women centric community-based non-profit service delivery organization, directly accessing marginalized, vulnerable, destitute, deprived, trafficked, run-away and missing children besides the marginalized women, youth and homeless people.

Presently, run by 761 professionals, through 315 Centres & Units, it directly serves day-to-day nearly 50,000 beneficiaries running intensive outreach programs in 12 States/Union Territories, namely, Delhi, Bihar, Assam, Arunachal Pradesh, Andaman & Nicobar Islands, Gujarat, Rajasthan, Haryana, Jharkhand, and Jammu and Kashmir, Dadra and Nagar Haveli and Daman and Diu. Mostly carrying out direct interventions for the children, youth, women, homeless and others in need of care and protection through it’s Homes/Shelters, Crisis Intervention Centre and having run helplines for children and women for several years, Prayas besides these, works on different thematic areas concerning disaster and issues related to education, nutrition, health services, vocational training and life-skill in different parts of the country.

Among other multi-faceted and specialized activities, the organization is also one of the country’s leading Vocational Training Providers (VTP) which imparts market & local economy driven training, livelihood & placements to more than 15,000 youth at any point of time through Prayas Institute of Economic Empowerment (PIEE). Accredited with the National Institute of Open Schooling (NIOS), an autonomous institution under Ministry of Education, GoI and Jan Shikshan Sansthan (JSS), national level skill development programs aimed to improve the occupational skills and technical knowledge of the non/neo-literates and persons having a rudimentary level of education up to 8th standard and other school drop-outs beyond 8th standard i.e. up to class 12th to raise their efficiency, increase productive ability and enhance their livelihood opportunities under the aegis of National Skill Development Corporation (NSDC), Ministry of Skill Development & Entrepreneurship (MSDE), Govt. of India & of several Ministries and State Governments.

The Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC) of the United Nations has granted special consultative status to Prayas Juvenile Aid Centre Society to participate in the work of the United Nations and its various subsidiary bodies on 7th December 2022.
