Pahal Project — G.B. Road, Delhi

Initiated in 2010 at G.B. Road, Delhi, the Pahal Project works with children of women engaged in sex work, focusing on education, child protection, counselling, and community support. The initiative aims to create a safer and more supportive environment for children living in vulnerable circumstances while helping them access opportunities for learning, care, and development.

Objectives

  • Ensuring care and protection for children of female sex workers in the G.B. Road area of Delhi
  • Educational and vocational rehabilitation of children
  • Preventing second-generation girls from entering commercial sex work
  • Ensuring identity, dignity, and protection for children of female sex workers

Community Support

The project conducts regular awareness sessions on child rights, health, education, and protection for children, families, and community members. Counselling support, continuous follow-ups, recreational activities, exposure visits, and community interaction programmes contribute towards improving the physical, emotional, and social well-being of children and families.

Stakeholder Engagement & Outcomes

The impact of Pahal has been made possible through strong partnerships with the Delhi Commission for Women, Delhi Police, DCPCR, schools, and hospitals.
