Prayas Short Stay Shelter Home
Short-stay shelter homes under the Juvenile Justice (Care and Protection of Children) Act provide urgent support, temporary accommodation, food, clothing, healthcare, counselling, rehabilitation, and reintegration support to children in need of care and protection. Prayas JAC Society runs three Open Shelters in Delhi — Azadpur, Mori Gate, and Kashmiri Gate — offering safe spaces, protection, education, healthcare, counselling, and recreational opportunities for vulnerable children.
Open Shelters — Azadpur, Mori Gate & Kashmiri Gate
The Prayas Open Shelters provide care and protection for missing children, runaway children, child labourers, street-connected children, and children in vulnerable situations. Children receive counselling support, healthcare assistance, educational guidance, life skills education, and recreational support in a safe and nurturing environment.

Awareness & Education
Regular educational and awareness sessions are conducted for children on hygiene, good habits, environmental protection, child rights, and tobacco prevention. Parent and guardian orientation programmes on child protection are also organized to strengthen family support and awareness.
Holistic Development
The shelters promote holistic development through celebrations, creative activities, recreational sessions, exposure visits, and cultural programmes. Children participated in activities such as drawing, kite-flying, dance, and patriotic events during national celebrations. Children from all three shelters also visited Rashtrapati Bhavan, where they explored the architecture, exhibitions, and democratic heritage of the country.
Our Commitment
Through continuous rehabilitation, counselling, and follow-up support, the shelters continue to help children rebuild confidence and move towards safer, more secure, and dignified futures.
