A District Level Task Force meeting with District Magistrate, East Champaran, Motihari

On February 20, 2023, the District Level Task Force meeting was organised under the chairmanship of District Magistrate, East Champaran, Motihari, Shri Shirsat Kapil Ashok. In the said meeting, the District Panchayati Raj Officer, East Champaran, Motihari was directed by the DM to ensure formation of Panchayat level task force on priority basis and maintenance of registers so that information related to movement of child labour could be received on timely basis. In continuation, the DM directed the Chief Medical Officer, East Champaran, Motihari to ensure that the freed child laborers are covered under the Ayushman card scheme. Along with this, it was said by the Labour Superintendent, East Champaran, Motihari that in the financial year 2022-23, a total of 38 child laborers were freed and 100% rehabilitation process had been completed. The Labour Superintendent, also mentioned that a letter had been issued by the Secretary, Labour Resources Department, in which it was directed that child labours were forcefully made to perform laborious work like in lifting of lights with the band party (Orchestra) in various marriage programmes. The Labour Superintendent requested the DM to get it resolved on which the DM directed the Labour Superintendent to put up the file, in this regard. A copy of the FD was distributed to two freed child laborers by the hands of the DM. In the said meeting Deputy Superintendent of Police, East Champaran Motihari, District Public Relations Officer, East Champaran, Chief Medical Officer, East Champaran, Assistant Director, Child Protection Unit, East Champaran, Asst. Director, Social Security Cell, East Champaran, Assistant Director, Divyangjan Empowerment Officer, East Champaran, Labour Enforcement Officer, Motihari Sadar, Pakdidayal, Dhaka, Sameer Digal from Duncan Hospital, and Vijay Kumar Sharma from Pratham Sansthan were present.
