Convergence Meeting of stakeholders for Prevention, Protection and Rehabilitation of Child Labour

On 10th March 2022, Convergence Meeting of stakeholders for Prevention, Protection and Rehabilitation of Child Labour was conducted in collaboration with International Labour Organisation and Prayas, the NGO Jointly in Jamui and Nawada District of Bihar. The Additional District and Sessions Judge-cum- Secretary Sri Devesh Kumar was the chief guest and chaired the program with various stakeholders like DFO, CDPO, Labour Superintendent , Child protection officer , District president of BJP of Jamui and eminent Doctor and social activist Dr. S.N.Jha were among the other guest and speaker at the program who jointly lit the inaugural lamp with the secretary DLSA Jamui. Purpose of meeting was to reduce and prevent the child labour which is still a curse to our society. They explained about the child labour and schemes/activities for protection of child range [0-6] to combat evil activities in society. They mentioned Help line number 1098 for helping and protecting the child. And explained how the department works for the protection and rehabilitation of children. DLSA Jamui explained various Laws pertaining to protection of child and legal assistance provided to them under the aegis of National Legal Services Authority (NALSA) & Bihar State Legal Services Authority (BSLSA). He stressed upon the importance of education and need for empowerment in society. He quoted Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam “Each child should dream as the dreams are converted into thoughts and later thoughts are transformed into action.” He explained about child labour act, Juvenile Justice Act, POCSO Act, Rights of education Rights of equal opportunity to every child. He explained the compensation schemes also which are given to victims covered under POCSO Act and how DLSA is helping the victim getting the desired relief.
