‘Hope this letter finds you in the best of health and spirit’

We highly appreciate your generous acts and profusely thank you for remaining associated with Prayas as an ardent supporter, a volunteer/intern, and a ‘Friend of Prayas’. Prayas’ birth, as you know, was accidental in nature when it came into existence in 1988 following a devastating fire at Jahangirpuri, one of the largest resettlement slums of Delhi, destroying thousands of families who lost their homes and livelihood, the worst affected being the children. Set-up by the then Delhi Police DCP Mr. Amod K Kanth to protect, look after & rehabilitate the missing, homeless and destitute children on his call of duty, Prayas JAC Society forged a collaboration of Delhi School of Social Work, Delhi Police and Shramik Vidyapeeth, Ministry of HRD, GOI and registered in 1988-89 (S-20291/89).

Beginning with 25 traumatised children now Prayas is routinely serving about 40,000 marginalized children, youth and women and the communities with over +600 professionals, through 164 Centres & Units, addressing multiple issues and running service delivery programs relating to child protection and juvenile justice, trafficking of children and women, vocational and life skills training, empowerment of women through Self-Help Groups and Income Generation Program & promotion of entrepreneurship.
