Women’s Day Celebration in collaboration with WEDO

International Women’s Day celebrated every year on 8th of March brings together the whole world to celebrate the achievements of women and to take action towards achieving gender equality. Prayas JAC Society joined hands with WeDo (Women’s Entrepreneurship Day Organisation) to mark the significance of International Women’s Day. Today, the Prayas Head Office hosted a series of events and initiatives aimed at promoting gender equality and celebrating the achievements of women. The event began with the screening of the documentaries of both organizations and was followed by lamp lighting and felicitation of our guests. Our founder and General Secretary Mr.Amod K. Kanth not only welcomed the esteemed guests but also took us through a journey from where the entire concept of this day came up in 1917. He further addressed the significant shift in the gender ratio. Speaking of gender equality, Mr. Kanth said “ When women demand equality, they should feel it in all spheres because they have proved that they can do everything even those that the others can’t”. Explaining the theme, the ambassador of the WEDO India Chapter, Dr. Sushi Singh encouraged the gathering to stand up for their rights and to work hard towards their dreams. The panel discussion featured inspiring female leaders including Ms.Sana Shakil, Managing Director of Patriot, Mrs. Mamta Gandhi, Assistant General Manager at RBI, Mrs. Elena Barman, representing the Indian Association of Russian Compatriots, Mrs. Anita Gupta, Founder of New Age Mompreneurs Community and Ms.Tulika Singh, Co-Ambassador of WEDO, Mrs. Stuti Bhushan, from Governance today amongst others. All of them guided us through their life experiences and empowered us about the need for inclusivity, the power of perseverance, the importance of financial independence, and the significance of having ambitious dreams, etc. The program concluded by honoring the resilient women of Prayas who have consistently worked hard over the years and added significantly towards the growth of the organization. We extend our heartfelt gratitude towards our Governing Board members, our Executive Director, our esteemed guests of the day, our women co-workers, our children from the Girls Home, and all the others who graced the occasion with their presence.
