Reliance –Prayas Joint Project

Working with :- SHGs & Women Empowerment

Area Covered: Nimana, Dadry Toe and Yoqubpur (2008)

Launched 1st centre at Nimana in Jhhjjar district under Reliance Haryana SEZ Ltd–Prayas Joint Project on Women Empowerment though Self Help Group and Skills development programme.

Soon after the signing of contract with Reliance, we equipped the identified centre at Rajkiye Madhymiyk Vidyalay, Nimana with 7 nos.

  • Usha sewing machines and other allied accessories for conducting training in Dress-Designing course.

  • We had earlier identified 30 women from a list prepared by Reliance team for induction in the training programme as also for formation of SHGs.

After all this preparation which took us nearly 10 days time of continuous work done by our Mr. Ravinder Kumar, the Project Co-ordinator designated for this project with his team comprising  Ms. Satya, Anup from Marketing, Ms. Deepika, Balram ji, Ms. Kamla Thakur and Ms. Maya, Instructor, Dress-Designing-all from Jahangirpuri centre.

In consultation with Reliance, 13th March 2008 was fixed-up as the date for inauguration of Nimana centre. As such, the centre was launched on 13th march, 08 with team from Reliance Industries headed by shree Shri Ballav Goyal, CEO, Mr. Kamal Kishore, Vice-President, Mr. Hindana, Head-Co-operate Communication, Dr. K.C. Mishra, Project In-Charge and number of members from Reliance. While launching the centre, Shree Goyal described about the objective of the socio-economic empowerment of women of the village as a step initiated through this programme for their self-reliance and confidence building. Shree Hoshiyar Singh, Sarpanch of Nimana village assured the Prayas team of his full support in the implementation of the programme. The District Education Officer, Shri R.P. Sagwan advised the women folk present on the occasion to take active part in the programme for self-improvement and skills development which could help them in improving their quality of life.

The under-signed in his address to the gathering, on the occasion, high-lighted the activities of Prayas in community-based programmes at national level and sought the co-operation of the village community, Panchayat, block and district level machineries in promoting the objective of empowerment through skills enhancement and SHG for the women of Nimana, Dadari Toi and Yakubpur at the pilot project level. He conveyed grateful thanks to Reliance for believing in Prayas and entrusting with us the role of an implementing agency.
