On 28 January 2016, Prayas has been selected by the Department of Social Welfare to run Purnea Boys Children’s Home. The agreement document was signed by Mr Amod K Kanth, General Secretary of Prayas Juvenile Aid Centre. From 01 April 2016, the Prayas Juvenile Aid Centre has taken over the Children’s Home Purnea from the District Nodal officer of Social Welfare Department Ms Baby Rani, BASA, ADCP, Purnea.
Prayas have taken over the children’s home with 36 children and a number of items from the district nodal officer. This Home is in government building and it has four very big rooms, two rooms for staffs, two rooms for office, 10 latrine bathroom, a kitchen with a big store room, one courtyard, one kitchen garden and a big open space at the front of the Home.
Inauguration Cum Orientation of Purnea Children Home
On 27th April 2016 at Purnea campus was Collectorate meeting hall a formal inauguration ceremony was organized in the gala and proud presence of Mr. Amod Kanth, Ex DGP and General Secretary, Prayas Juvenile Aid Center, DIG Purnea Range Mr Upendra Kumar, DIG SSB Mrs Sulekha Das, SP Purnea Mr. Nishant Tiwari, DDC Purnea Mr. Rama Shankar and Mr. Suresh Kumar Prayas JAC Patna. The Day was started with the motto and future strategy of Purnea Children Home's inmates. How they will be groomed and nurtured so that the future of the in house children can be shaped and the national social stigma of child labour can be carved out. On this occasion Mr. Amod Kanth Secretary Prayas JAC said only by eliminating child labor a well shaped society can be visualized. Unemployment can be removed. A healthy society can be formed. Women can be esteemed.
